THE OLD-TIME SALOON George Ade 1931 (SOLD!)


George Ade's classic 1931 book, THE OLD-TIME SALOON - Not Wet - Not Dry - Just History. It is a nostalgic and romantic look back (written during Prohibition) at the glory and traditions of the once-flourishing American saloon. Features a number of illustrations by Gluyas Williams from Cosmopolitan and a handful of other prominent cartoonists of the day. End papers show a busy bar-room scene by Dan Sayre Grosbeck.






This copy is the Second Edition, published and printed in November 1931, published by Ray Long & Richard S. Smith, New York. The First Edition was published just 1 month before, in Oktober 1931. On the flap on the dustjacket it is written: "This is the second large printing of The Old-Time Saloon. The first edition was exhausted before publication."

Condition is G+ to VG. Very clean and tight. No writings or marks. Just a bit of yellowing as of its age. The dustjacket is worn (see photos).
